PRASAD de México is celebrating its 20th Anniversary! Founded on July 25, 1996, to provide much needed eye care to rural areas of México, the volunteer surgical team performs free, corrective surgery for both children and adults.
Life in rural México is challenging, and the idea of specialty medical care such as eye surgery is considered a luxury beyond the means of most. Cataracts and strabismus (cross-eyes) are widespread. By correcting these conditions, PRASAD restores vision and helps to rebuild confidence and provide a chance for a happy, productive life.
A 98-year-old man recently sought care. “I want to feel normal at least for one day in my life.” The surgery was successful and he said, “Today I saw myself in the mirror and for the first time in my life, I look normal.”
PRASAD de México’s tireless efforts have produced more than 180 eye camps, restoring vision through free eye surgery for more than 29,000 adults and children. Please join us in congratulating PRASAD de México on twenty wonderful years of extraordinary service!
Warmly,
The PRASAD Project
